FROSTY LAVENDER

frosty but a pretty morning, the soft falling snow muted everything into frosty pink & lavender color combination....when I'm home, my saturday morning is my ode to decadence, pancake with real maple syrup & butter & 2 cups of hot chocolate with heavy cream...that's about as good as it gets on frosty morning

PASTEL ENCHANTMENT

took a very slow hike this morning, one big sheet of icy on the dirt road....who needs a skating rink?  good day to catch up on Ninon's blog....mabulleetmoi.blogspot.com.....she's a friend in France & she got this really cool blog in french, reading one little blog could take me half the day to translate...she just had the cutest french baby girl, I dont know how she finds time to post her blog

FRESH SNOWFALL

a quick sketch of the brilliance of new fallen snow before heading off to the slopes...perfect combination of fresh snow, little ski traffic, & a clear mild day(20's degree is consider mild) makes for a nice day off...ah, the life of an unemployed artist

HOME

as the winter chill whistles outside, always nice to be back home...I'm sipping a steaming cup of tea in the middle of another snowstorm....this has been a very snowy winter

this is definately a very snowy winter, for 2009,I've been experimenting with the snow & different variations on blues...the illustrator in me just cant help but add something illustrative, to tell a story...I'm signing off for the week, it's chinese new year...good time to leave behind this frozen tundra

ABSTRACTION

this most unacceptable season has its merits...the abstract element of a landscape is most obvious in the winter...the large shapes of the snowy fields against the texture woods, fit together marvelously....for an artist

SOFT SNOW

paper & pastel flying around in my studio, trying to respond to the evocative snow scene....pastel allows me to work rapidly & fix the scene outside my window... their granular softness is ideal for the soft falling snow

got inspire to get out my pastel this morning...this is one medium I fall in & out of love with...sometimes I loss touch with it, it just does not give me the desire effect...other times, a few strokes of pastel says it all

interesting coloring outside the frozen tundra this morning...these kind of days are good for self indulgent indoor activity, like reading & napping...snow shower forcast for the next 5 days, winters are like that deep in the Catskill Mountain

WINTER WONDERS

OMG...second week of 2009 has come & gone...my hands have been too clean, spending way too much time on the computer...have to get back to real art....nothing like the sheer pleasure of moving paint around...a most unusual sight the other morning... while my world is asleep under a thick blanket of snow, the full moon sets over the western horizon, outside my window
