the trouble with being an artist is that we all have 101 things on our to do list & none of them involve painting....finally find the time to work up a finish...the idea began a few sketches ago from my personal experience of being in the middle of an idyllic summer day in the country

On these fine summer days, it's easy to see why the Hudson River School was started in the Catskill Mountain...America's first native stye of art....the landscape itself provided inspiration and meaning.

FOR DENIS

after designing a cancer get well card for Denis of Cooperstown, New York...who's going thru some amazing cancer treatment at Rochester, NY....I painted the sky outside my window....I sure hope he has a huge window in his room!

DANCING CLOUDS

A windy & cloudy day....great for cloud study...this study is a conscious reference to John Constable.....whenever I'm going to paint the sky, I make sure I glance thru all my Constable reference books....

FOGGY

FOG occurs when humid air cools & approaches the dew point...it's a good lesson in learning to change my visual expectations...forget about detail & contrast...I look for more abstract, simple shapes & patterns....
