I used to doodle alot, just images from my head...landscape sketches is still my favorite, but it's good to work different part of the brain....

PASSING CLOUDS

along with a drawer full of tone paper & scraps, it's always a good idea to have some paints lay out on the palette...I never know when a scene outside my window can stop me in my tracks...

SILENT NIGHT

different artist influenced me in different ways...for my nocturnes, artist like Piero della Francesca, Camille Carot, George Inness, & Whistler, of course...I'm always studying their use of pictorial space & color sensibilities...

WINTER BIRDS

it might be cold & frightful outside, but watching the birds at the bird feeder warms up the winter days...

SNOWY NOCTURNE

after a week of snow showers, my painter's eye is really glad to catch some colors outside my window..

FROSTY PASTEL

pastel is my prefer medium for the soft air of Spring, but pastel with color pencil seem to work perfectly for this frosty morning sketch...the process of finding the tools that will lead to a personal vision is part of the fun....

another foliage season has come and gone... even without the gorgeous fall foliage, one can easily see why the Catskill Mountain inspire the first American School of Painting..since the beginning of the Hudson River School in the 1800's, the scenery remains unspoil, beautiful, sublime & very paintable...
