 Old master Jean-Francois Millet wrote that "If a sketch seen in the dim half light at the end of the day has the requisite balance-ponderation-it is a picture: if not, no clever arrangement of color, no skill in drawing our elaborate finish, can ever make our a picture."

MEADOW WEEDS, EN PLEIN AIR

Ten thousand pictures come & go every day. Just dont have the time to paint every picturesque corner of Delaware County. It's always a treat to be able to set up my easel to start something. This is an easy scene, since Summer is all about greens.

EXCERCISE WITH GREENS & PURPLE

Sometimes, inspiration to start a new sketch is as simple as using up some extra paints that's on my palette.




With all this rain in May, the mountains are bursting with greens!
