GRAPHITE

next to finding a subject that does not move much, the next best thing for a quick sketch is finding the right tool...I have many types of pencil, this new 6B PITT graphite is perfect for this sketch...it's chunky enough to cover big shapes, & the pencil point was perfect for a few detail....with my kneaded eraser shape to a point, it was easy to define the hair's highlights

ESSENCE

I'm a traditional realist...after doing it for so long, it's nice to gain the discipline to take out, simplify & simplify, to try to keep the essence of the scene rather than painting every detail...

NYC - SUBWAY

aside from killing time, the subway of NYC provides the perfect time for a few quick sketches...nobody moves around much  on the train

PETS

I forgot how much I enjoy painting pets...with a fine kolinsky brush and watercolor, it's the perfect combination for painting pet's hair, stroke by stroke...
