Inspiring Evening Sky

 A very rare meeting of Venus & the Crescent Moon. I was treated to a lovely pairing off of the two brightest objects in the night sky, as I got home yesterday. I would not see so many stars if this is a full moon.

Winter Colors from my window

Another contemplative meditation on the process of painting. After many days of endless grey, the sun finally show up!

Frosty Pink is the perfect name to describe this  hue. The pink sunrise glow melts into different shades of browns, pretty quickly.

The days are so short that the light outside my window changes pretty fast.

Always a good idea to have some pre-mix colors for my nocturne... the winter landscape can be monotonous, but the sky can offer me endless color combination to play with.

Purple & Orange, this is the best time to appreciate the beauty of trees, silhouetted against a glowing sunset.

WINTER'S NIGHT

Another winter night, the mountain enters a deep stillness… it feels like living inside a painting.

THE WOODS

There are a few signs of spring deep in  our mountain. The view from my desk is still very brown. But the brief sunset can turn my western view totally magical. From bleak to sensational!

GRAPHIC SIMPLICITY

After a day of painting details with a tiny brush, it's nice to look out my window & be inspire by simple shapes. A few big charcoal sticks, with a bit of rubbing in, can convey the graphic simplicity of sky & mountain peaks.

SNOWSCAPE

The snow began in the night & it fell steadily all day, wrapping the house in a soft mantle. Aside from making a batch of christmas cookies, while listening to the radio, I got to work up a finish illustration. By adding the reindeer, it tells a better story. Hope this new design gets some license deal for 2013....HAPPY HOLIDAY!
