NEW CHRISTMAS DESIGN

Added some greens to something I found at the antique store, a quick sketch. With the help of a little photoshop magic, VIOLA… I have a new christmas design.

CLOUDSCAPE

Cloud is just a region of space that's cooler than the regions around it, so that water vapor entering it condenses from the cold, then evaporates again as it drifts back out.

FLAMING SUNSET

A main reason I'm living in the Catskill Mountain is because of the Hudson River School. Around every bend, it's another picture perfect landscape, just as an artist could wish. This sketch came about from a visit to an artist's studio. The beautiful effects of the dark shapes against a flaming sunset is a constant theme for the Hudson River School.

LATE RASBERRY SEASON

Aside from spending time at the local apple orchard over the weekend, there was plenty of rasberry for picking. They are small, but the simple shape offer me a chance to use just a few colors for this oil sketch.

PRODUCTIVE MORNING

Staying focus is not my strong point. But with the help of technology, it can certainly speed up the whole process. Pretty cool to paint in my garden in the morning, scan the painting with a little PS edit, I have a new design! I upload it to Zazzle… I just created a new greeting card for my BIRTHDAY COLLECTION, all in a day's work.

KITTY WATERCOLOR

The pure joy of a quick watercolor. Balancing the looseness of the watercolor with a few fine lines of the brush.

ORCHID & GREEN

Kind of like this oil sketch of apple blossom from Spring. I layer on a yellow butterfly from my archive…the yellow layer on green layer turn this into a purple butterfly, by clicking on  the "difference" layer on photoshop. Since orchid is the color of the year, I'm saving this as a new design.

Apple blossom oil turpentine sketch from Spring, finally getting to do a little editing on photoshop… it might or might not be a new design.

ORCHID BUTTERFLIES

This new butterfly design is created on photoshop, with just 2 layers.

 

I layer this butterfly design onto this green meadow sketch. By clicking on "difference", it gives me this wonderful orchid color.

This is the initial sketch for my recent design for Father's Day. Getting away from painting flowers & focusing more on fishing & sports for a male audience...

HAND LETTER

When a card design sells, I usually try to work up another version. To turn this into a valentine card, I added some hand lettering into the heart. I have to rewrite the fonts many times, to find the right combo. From a thank you greeting, I have a Valentine greeting.

SPRING DESIGN

No two project ever starts the same way.

 What started out as just an oil painting of clouds from my deck on Monday is turning into a new design…photoshop is allowing me to layer the apple blossom painted in watercolor, onto this oil painting.
