Winter Colorings, Outside My Window

Soothing palette of deep blues evoke the depths of twilight. Fun to push the oil turpentine around, on paper. The addition of winter pines turn this abstract color study into a snowy landscape.

SACRE COEUR NOCTURNE

After the sun sets, a blue veil soften all the colors & shapes of Paris, except for the well lit Sacre Coeur. Pure magic to see this from my balcony before I fall asleep.

GLORIOUS TWILIGHT

Pursuing cloudscapes in saturated tones & vibrant glazing.

STORMY NOCTURNE

The cold keeps me indoor with my paints. Different artist influenced me in different ways. For nocturnes, I refer back to artist like George Innes & Whistler. Always studying their use of pictorial space & color sensibilities.

for a tiny insect, the FIREFLY is pure magic on a summer evening!

WINTER LIGHTS

This is a pretty time to be going home in the dark. Everyone puts up christmas lights to balance out our very long winter. Nothing like twinkling lights & a bit of snow to make the whole area bright & magical. This sketch is good enough to be a finish. Hope to finish off with more detail on the house.

SUMMER EVENING

The wind off the pond, cool & crisp, charms the night. Perfect sleeping weather.

MAGIC HOUR

Venus sparkling next to the crescent moon is too magical not to put down in paint. This scene was quite easy to paint from memory.

After a day of warm sunshine, the cold stillness of a winter evening sets in... this might be my last snowy sketch for the season.
