Quote by Toni Morrison

An excuse for this quote by Toni Morrison ... "did you ever see the way the clouds love a mountain? They circle around it; sometimes you cant even see the mountain for the clouds"

Light & Atmosphere with Oil

This foggy morning painting happened pretty fast,

mainly because I have similar colors on my palette, from yesterday.

The last part is always the most fun. I get to use my intuition to finish up the landscape. By not copying exactly what I'm painting, I get to push myself to see new colors & new light effects.

Painting in My Garden

Grass is always greener on the other side. Which is a big reason I don't paint my own garden that much. But sometimes, it's so pretty...I'm compel to get my paints out.

The trick to painting a perfect garden is to combine different parts to reinvent the perfect composition!

MEADOW WEEDS, EN PLEIN AIR

Ten thousand pictures come & go every day. Just dont have the time to paint every picturesque corner of Delaware County. It's always a treat to be able to set up my easel to start something. This is an easy scene, since Summer is all about greens.

an excuse to play with pretty greens

mostly strokes, that's how grass grows

I usually rely on my memory to finish the painting in my studio

finish!

PAINTING MORNING FOG

Summer fog makes my mornings quite interesting, from my window. The tittle saids it all. The pink comes straight from the tube. No need to waste time mixing paints.

PLEIN AIR NOCTURNE

6:30am, trying to catch the light before it changes. Still mild enough to be painting outside & breathing in the morning scent from my garden.
