TIPS ON THE RIGHT ART SUPPLY

Sometimes, choosing the right paper is half the job. I love the way the grain of this paper is just right for indicating the misty & moody fall hues,

thru the use of graphite & pastel.

Painted Ferns

Nature's abundant glories...from my garden to my studio. The tiny ferns call for some detail brushwork.
The wonder of it all!

CATSKILL MOUNTAIN SCENE

Another typical scene of the Catskill Mountain. Black & White nestled quietly among the green texture of trees & meadows.

I started off with a watercolor rendering. I needed to use a small watercolor brush to define the cow.

I then  highlighted the foliage with a few strokes of colorful pastel. Soft pastel over textured watercolor paper gives it that illusive quality of the light.

FALL-LAKE

Started this sketch in Cooperstown last weekend... spending time in a secret garden. I got to define the boat on the lake today. I'm sure alot of the foliage are gone by this weekend.

NATURE

By being outdoor, that's where I get the stimulation and the fun of the unexpected. Nature does not come to your studio, you have to go to her... in my case, nature is right outside my window.
