A LITTLE TUBE OF INSPIRATION

Inspiration shows up in many forms. Came home with this new Cadmium Orange. Art supply is better than toys. We want to play with it, even when there are ten projects going on.

Planting the rich orange Dahlia against the greens & blues was just an experiment. Mother nature does not always cooperate. But when the color scheme comes together... it's a very good thing!

NEW KITTEN DESIGN

You learn to paint & then you paint to learn.Part of the joy of painting is experimenting with new art supply. After all these years, my go to medium is still watercolor. Sometimes I choose to start a new subject just so I can use my Winsor & Newton watercolors & my #3 Kolinsky sable brush from Utrecht. This sable brush has the right snap for a fluid wash & the perfect point for building up the fuzzy fur on this little kittie.

BROOKWOOD GARDEN, COOPERSTOWN

After a rather busy Labor Day Weekend. It's nice to be able to spend some quiet time in a lovely garden by the lake in Cooperstown. Brookwood Garden is a lovely Italianite Renaissane garden on Lake Otsego, New York.

TYPICAL DAY

If there's such a thing, a typical Summer day usually starts in my garden. With teacup in my hand, I soak in the early morning light. I usually find something to put in my sketchbook.

Another northeaster for us. Thank goodness for colorful magazines. This sketch comes from flipping thru my country living magazine. I could almost smell the scent from this summer bouquet.

NATURE

By being outdoor, that's where I get the stimulation and the fun of the unexpected. Nature does not come to your studio, you have to go to her... in my case, nature is right outside my window.

SUMMER BIRD

With the cooler days, hummingbirds &  other birds are gone from my garden. This might be the last time I see Robins in my garden till next spring.

HARVEST

It never fails, as soon as Labor day rolls around, there's the chill in the air. It also means the start of fall harvesting season. Such a wide variety of beautiful vegetables at the farmer's market!

CORN FIELDS

These summer cornfields are so lush & very scenic. With the graphic lines, rows of cornfields are pretty easy to paint. If I squint, I can pretend that I'm in CA, among the vineyards.

CUSTOM POSTAGE STAMP

 Fooling around with some old pansy sketches this week. Found a little time to update my COTTAGEWEDDING collection. With my new pansy line, I included some custom postage stamp. Would a bride pay double to personalize their wedding suit?? Maybe I'm on the right track. This morning, I came upon an article on Envelopments new line. Even a big company is using zazzle.com to coordinate with their line of paper products.
